Tou You means 'porcelain leaf' in Japanese.
Our Kyusu (teapot in Japanese) is a variant known as a yokode no kyusu, which literally means 'side hand teapot'. And because of the stainless steel belt, these pots are affectionately called an Obi Ami teapot or steel belt teapot!
All of our tea wares are handcrafted in the Shizuoka prefecture by a family who has been making teaware for generations.
Being individually handcrafted, colours and patterns may vary slightly thus giving each item its distinctive character and unique Japanese name (Tou You).
On the inside of the teapot is a stainless steel net which is not easily clogged like other nets, this makes it suitable for all kinds of tea leaves including deep steamed tea.
The net stays stuck to the inside walls thanks to the elasticity of the stainless steel material, so do not press or apply strong force when washing. Pay particular attention to the seam of the net.
