About the Hachisen Tea Company.

Our Tea Master produces some of the finest premium grade Japanese green tea money can buy.

We only offer hand picked first flush green tea guaranteeing you'll never taste a weak, poor quality tea from Hachisen!

Traditionally Japanese green tea is picked on 4 occasions commonly called flush, the tea is harvested every quarter usually corresponding to the start of each season.

First flush tea is the very first pick from the plant in early spring. These new growth leaves are the youngest, most tender, sort after part of the tea plant, as it offers the purest and freshest cup of tea the plant is capable of producing.

Second and third flushes are considered lower in quality and taste profile, and thus don't meet Hachisen's exacting standards.

The fourth flush is considered to be the lowest quality and is usually sold by brands in supermarkets.

Although it must be said some fourth flush green tea (commonly known as Bancha) has its use in producing a unique Japanese tea flavour.

Any rejected leaves from each harvest becomes very rich compost for our next years crop!

At Hachisen our mission is to provide premium quality Japanese green tea to customers looking to experience the artistic pastime unique to Japan of serving and drinking green tea.

We aim to provide and educate our friends on the various flavours, taste and brewing methods associated with Japanese green tea.

Hopefully, overtime one will come to understand that in Japan, serving tea is an art, and a spiritual discipline.

Because at Hachisen we believe one should enjoy life sip by sip not gulp by gulp!
