Our Kokuyuu matcha bowl is a black glazed bowl which is made using Arita Porcelain.
Arita Porcelain originated in the 17th century in the northeastern island of Kyushu around the town of Arita. It has many fine characteristics; it is thin, light, its feel almost like that of glass, yet solid. It is also durable and does not absorb water, making it, therefore, suited for tableware.
All of our tea wares are handcrafted in the Shizuoka prefecture by a family who has been making teaware for generations.
Being individually handcrafted, colours and patterns may vary slightly thus giving each item its distinctive character.
